Our Story
Fellowship Presbyterian Church was established in 1979 to serve a large
developing new suburban area northeast of the city of Tallahassee. We celebrated
our Silver Anniversary in October of 2004.Our Name
Our first name is "fellowship." We draw it from a Biblical description
of the behavior of the early church, "...and they devoted themselves to the
apostles' teaching and fellowship..." (Acts 2:42). We believe that every person
needs a family where he or she can feel they belong, enjoy genuine caring
fellowship, and in that community develop in mind, heart and spirit to be the person God intends. We want this congregation to be - your family.
Welcome!Our Mission
"The mission of Fellowship Presbyterian Church
is to be a loving, inclusive family of believers in Jesus Christ that provides a
nurturing center for worship, prayer, study, and fellowship, which ministers to
the needs of our community and the world."Worship and Bible Study at Fellowship Presbyterian
Church
Sunday morning worship services are at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., with Sunday School
classes and fellowship time between the two services. During the 9:00 a.m. service,
the music is led by a praise band dedicated to glorifying God through an emphasis on
Contemporary Christian music. Our gifted choir leads the music during the 11:00 service
with traditional hymns and classical worship music. At the core of both services is reading
and proclaiming the Word of God revealed in Scripture, prayers of worship and intercession,
and celebration of the sacraments recognized in the reformed tradition. Communion is
celebrated the first Sunday of every month and baptisms are celebrated during the
worship services as often as possible. Our four Adult Classes are open to all. Each class is distinct so there is sure to be one just for you. Philios class took over 9 years to complete going through the entire Bible, book by book (the first time took them 7 years!) They have recently started over again and are now studying the New Testament books, using the study guide "Journey through the Bible" and are currently in the book of Matthew. They will start the book of Mark in early June. Seekers class has a very informal, loose discussion format. The class will start studying the book "Being disciples in a dot com world" in mid-May. Koinonia Class is using the "Faith lessons from the promised land" video study. They began studying the volume on the death and resurrection of the Messiah on April 27. Coffee Talk Class uses a study guide for a study on the books of Job, Psalm, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon.
Additional classes: Our Presbyterian Women groups (circles and squares) provide study and fellowship opportunities each month. See the newsletter for dates/times/places of these groups. On Wednesday night before dinner a group meets in the sanctuary for topical discussions on Old Testament figures and other timely topics. Following dinner a group meets in the conference room for extended study. In May the class will have a study on the sacraments in the Presbyterian church.
THE SESSION "Elders are chosen by the
people. Together with ministers of the Word and Sacrament, they exercise
leadership, government, and discipline, and have responsibility for the life of
a particular church as well as the church at large." (quoted from our Book of
