Our Story
Fellowship Presbyterian Church was established in 1979 to serve a large
developing new suburban area northeast of the city of Tallahassee. We will
celebrtate our 30th anniversary in 2009. Our Name
Our first name is "fellowship." We draw it from a Biblical description
of the behavior of the early church, "...and they devoted themselves to the
apostles' teaching and fellowship..." (Acts 2:42). We believe that every person
needs a family where he or she can feel they belong, enjoy genuine caring
fellowship, and in that community develop in mind, heart and spirit to be the person God intends.
We want this congregation to be your family.
Welcome!Our Mission
"The mission of Fellowship Presbyterian Church
is to be a loving, inclusive family of believers in Jesus Christ that provides a
nurturing center for worship, prayer, study, and fellowship, which ministers to
the needs of our community and the world."Worship and Bible Study at Fellowship Presbyterian

Our four Adult Classes are open to all. Each class is distinct so there is sure to be one just for you. Philios class began in the early 1980s; believing that Sunday School is one form of Christian worship we have incorporated the 3 elements of worship into each session. We begin each session with prayer, followed by a study of the scripture, and end with the song “Bind Us Together, Lord”. With the Bible as our text, we have started with Genesis and ended with Revelation 3 times!! It has taken approximately 7 years for each complete study… We are now on our 4th study. We welcome one and all to join us as we add more years to our class history and learn together what the scriptures say to us today. Seekers class began in the late 1980s. The format for the class is an open discussion environment where members are encouraged to participate without fear of condemnation for a different point of view. In this atmosphere the class has studied many different books of the Bible (some more than once) as well as other books relating to Christianity to include both fiction and non- fiction. Class participation ranges from modest to very robust depending on the subject. On a typical Sunday morning you can usually find a fairly lively discussion in our classroom. Our members seek to grow in their walk with Christ by taking the knowledge gained through class participation and serving the Master both within our church and in the outside world. Koinonia Class began in 1994 as the Young Adult Class; in 1998 they became the Koinonia Class. The class continues strong today as a young at heart adult class. Come join us for great discussions and continuing your faith journey. Coffee Talk Class is our newest class; it was started to give the parents of our young children study and discussion time. The name comes from the fact that they originally gathered around acoffee pot for their discussion time. This class has used some parenting materials for study as well as several Bible studies.
Additional classes: Our Presbyterian Women groups (circles and squares) provide study and fellowship opportunities each month. See the newsletter for dates/times/places of these groups. On Wednesday night before dinner a group meets in the sanctuary for topical discussions. Following dinner a group meets in the conference room for extended study. During Advent we will watch "A Christmas Carol" and "A Wonderful Life" and have discussion on the meaning we find in these classic films.
THE SESSION "Elders are chosen by the
people. Together with ministers of the Word and Sacrament, they exercise
leadership, government, and discipline, and have responsibility for the life of
a particular church as well as the church at large." (quoted from our Book of
Order).
